When designing motors, we mainly consider two aspects when using silicon steel sheets,

1. The thickness of silicon steel sheets. The thinner the thickness of silicon steel sheets, the smaller their eddy current losses, making them more suitable for use in high-frequency motors. However, the thinner the silicon steel sheet, the smaller the stacking coefficient, which will inevitably reduce its magnetism and affect the output of the motor. Moreover, for thin silicon steel sheets and iron cores of the same thickness, there are too many stamping cycles, which increases the cost of stamping processing.

2. The nominal iron consumption of the silicon steel sheets used. The higher the grade of silicon steel, the lower its iron consumption, and therefore when applied to motors, the lower its iron consumption. However, the higher the grade of silicon steel with the same thickness, the poorer its magnetic conductivity, which also affects the output of the motor. The higher the grade, the higher the cost of silicon steel will inevitably increase.

Therefore, in motor design, we need to comprehensively select the grade of silicon steel sheet based on the iron consumption, cost, and output of the motor.
